Touch enabled graphical user interfaces and systems for distributing real time content

A system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• non-transitory computer-readable memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the system to:
• receive, from a client application executing on a user device, a prompt identifying an entity;
• generate, based at least in part on the prompt, an entity identifier for the entity and one or more retrieval parameters comprising at least one of a location constraint, a temporal constraint, a source constraint, or an aspect constraint;
• retrieve, based at least in part on the entity identifier and the one or more retrieval parameters, a plurality of feedback items associated with the entity by executing a multi-tier retrieval cascade that queries a first data source to obtain first candidate feedback items, evaluates a sufficiency gate with respect to the first candidate feedback items, and, based on determining that the sufficiency gate is not satisfied, selectively queries one or more additional data sources to obtain additional candidate feedback items and merges the additional candidate feedback items with previously obtained candidate feedback items, wherein the cascade terminates in response to determining that the sufficiency gate is satisfied;
• normalize at least a subset of the plurality of feedback items into canonical text representations and, using one or more classifiers, generate for respective feedback items classification outputs comprising at least one of:
• a polarity class selected from positive, negative, or neutral;
• a polarity probability;
• and
• an intensity value,
• wherein the classification outputs are stored in association with respective identifiers of the feedback items;
• determine a set of strong feedback items by discarding or down-weighting at least a portion of feedback items classified as neutral, and identifying strong-positive feedback items and strong-negative feedback items by comparing one or more sentiment strength criteria to the classification outputs, wherein the one or more sentiment strength criteria comprise at least one threshold based on a polarity probability and an intensity value;
• de-duplicate the plurality of feedback items by detecting substantially duplicate feedback items syndicated across sources and collapsing the substantially duplicate feedback items into representative feedback items having adjusted weights;
• and compute, based at least in part on the set of strong feedback items and the adjusted weights, a distilled sentiment ratio for the entity;
• cause the client application to render, based at least in part on the distilled sentiment ratio, an interactive user interface element that visually indicates respective positive and negative proportions for the entity, wherein the interactive user interface element comprises at least one of a thermometer-style control, a split bar, a stacked bar, a gauge, or paired positive/negative indicators;
• in response to a user selection of a positive-associated region or a negative-associated region of the interactive user interface element, cause the client application to present supporting citations corresponding to the selected region, wherein the supporting citations correspond to underlying ones of the feedback items and are ordered based on one or more ranking signals including at least one of recency, credibility, sentiment strength, or de-duplication;
• and
• wherein causing the client application to present at least one supporting citation comprises:
• determining whether a rendered video citation is available in a cache;
• upon determining that the rendered video citation is available in the cache, serving the rendered video citation to the client application;
• and
• upon determining that the rendered video citation is not available in the cache, causing presentation of a non-video citation representation while initiating asynchronous generation of the rendered video citation and, after completion, causing replacement of the non-video citation representation with the rendered video citation.
