Reconfiguration of block item hierarchy in response to modification requests

A system comprising:

• at least one hardware processor;
• and
• at least one non-transitory memory storing instructions, which, when executed by the at least one hardware processor, cause the system to:
• receive, via a client device for a first user, a request to modify a first item,
• wherein the request includes an instruction to modify the first item;
• in response to the request, obtain information identifying items maintained by one or more databases,
• wherein the items include items currently displayed and items not currently displayable,
• wherein the items are arranged according to relationship information that specifies at least parent-child, reference, or dependency relationships, and
• wherein the information includes a set of identifiers of the items, and the relationship information for the items;
• determine, based on the relationship information, an indication of subordinate items associated with the first item;
• modify the database by applying the instruction to the first item and propagating corresponding modifications to the subordinate items based on relationships with the first item;
• determine, using the modified database, updated items;
• and
• communicate an indication of the updated items to the client device,
• wherein the indication of the updated items includes modified relationship information associated with the updated items.

A method comprising:

• receiving, via a client device for a first user, a request to modify a first item,
• wherein the request includes an instruction to modify the first item;
• in response to the request, obtaining information identifying items maintained by one or more databases,
• wherein the items include items currently displayed and items not currently displayable,
• wherein the items are arranged according to relationship information that specifies at least parent-child, reference, or dependency relationships, and
• wherein the information includes a set of identifiers of the items and the relationship information for the items;
• determining, based on the relationship information, an indication of subordinate items associated with the first item;
• modifying the database by applying the instruction to the first item and propagating corresponding modifications to the subordinate items based on relationships with the first item;
• determining, using the modified database, updated items;
• and
• communicating an indication of the updated items to the client device,
• wherein the indication of the updated items includes modified relationship information associated with the updated items.
