Abstract
A system and method for status reporting for a storage device. In some embodiments, the method includes: receiving, by a persistent storage device, a command, the command requesting a status associated with a first logical block address; determining the status; and sending a response to the command, the response including the status.

A method, comprising:
- receiving, by a persistent storage device, a command, the command requesting a status associated with a first logical block address;
- determining a status of an allocation granularity associated with a set of memory locations associated with a range of logical block addresses, the range of logical block addresses comprising the first logical block address;
- and
- sending a response to the command, the response comprising the status of the allocation granularity,
- wherein:
- the determining of the status of the allocation granularity comprises checking a status associated with each logical block address in the allocation granularity.

- persistent memory;
- a processing circuit;

- the memory storing instructions, that, when executed by the processing circuit, cause the processing circuit to perform a method, the method comprising:
