Abstract
A method of managing virtual storage systems, the method comprising creating a virtual storage system, the virtual storage system including a virtual drive layer that includes a plurality of virtual drives and virtual drive logic configured to manage processing of I/O operations in the virtual storage system; and a backend storage layer including one or more storage devices that include at least one storage device for which one or more performance specifications are defined by a cloud storage service provider; and adjusting at least one component of the virtual storage system.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- receiving a plurality of input/output (I/O) requests directed to a virtual storage system comprising a virtual drive layer having a plurality of virtual drives and a backend storage layer having one or more storage devices;
- determining whether to adjust at least one component of the virtual storage system for servicing one or more of the plurality of I/O requests based on one or more performance specifications defined by a cloud storage service provider;
- and
- in response to determining that the at least one component is to be adjusted, adjusting the at least one component of the virtual storage system to satisfy the one or more performance specifications.
A storage system comprising:
- a plurality of storage devices;
- and
- a storage system controller, operatively coupled to one or more storage devices, configured to:
- receive a plurality of input/output (I/O) requests directed to a virtual storage system comprising a virtual drive layer having a plurality of virtual drives and a backend storage layer having one or more storage devices;
- determine whether to adjust at least one component of the virtual storage system for servicing one or more of the plurality of I/O requests based on one or more performance specifications defined by a cloud storage service provider;
- and
- in response to determining that the at least one component is to be adjusted, adjust the at least one component of the virtual storage system to satisfy the one or more performance specifications.
A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed, cause a storage system controller to:
- receive a plurality of input/output (I/O) requests directed to a virtual storage system comprising a virtual drive layer having a plurality of virtual drives and a backend storage layer having one or more storage devices;
- determine whether to adjust at least one component of the virtual storage system for servicing one or more of the plurality of I/O requests based on one or more performance specifications defined by a cloud storage service provider;
- and
- in response to determining that the at least one component is to be adjusted, adjust the at least one component of the virtual storage system to satisfy the one or more performance specifications.
