Abstract

A method and apparatus for parallel pointer operations are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present disclosure, there is provided a method performed by one or more computers for performing a loop operation including pointer operations on a plurality of pointers, the method comprising: a pointer vectorization process of vectorizing the plurality of pointers by storing an address value pointed to by each of the plurality of pointers as an individual element of a vector register of a processor to generate a vector variable, wherein each element of the vector variable represents a memory address of an individual pointer; and a pointer vector operation process of updating addresses of the plurality of pointers stored in the vector register in parallel through a vector operation using a preset vector offset variable during execution of a loop body.
