Abstract
A computer-implemented method of preventing software audio customization in a personal computing device comprising main circuitry comprising a central processing unit (CPU), audio processing circuitry, and memory, the method comprising: defining, in system management firmware securely signed and stored in the memory, a record of an expected audio signal path to an audio processing element implemented by the main circuitry, the audio processing element configured to receive a feedback signal via the expected audio signal path from a component of the audio processing circuitry downstream from the main circuitry.
Claims22
A computer-implemented method in a personal computing device comprising main circuitry comprising a central processing unit (CPU), audio processing circuitry, and memory, the method comprising:
- defining, in system management firmware securely signed and stored in the memory, a record of an expected audio signal path to an audio processing element implemented by the main circuitry, the audio processing element configured to receive a feedback signal via the expected audio signal path from a component of the audio processing circuitry downstream from the main circuitry.
A personal computing device, comprising:
- main circuitry comprising a central processing unit;
- peripheral audio processing circuitry;
- firmware memory comprising system management (SM) firmware, the firmware comprising a record of an expected audio signal path to an audio processing element implemented by the main circuitry, the audio processing element configured to receive a feedback signal via the expected audio signal path from a component of the peripheral audio processing circuitry downstream from the main circuitry.
