Securing a storage system from an unapproved reset, including: verifying that one or more prerequisites for resetting a storage system are satisfied; providing, based on the one or more prerequisites being satisfied, a token to reset the storage system; and initiating a reset of the storage system in response to a command to reset the storage system comprising the token.

- verifying that one or more prerequisites for resetting a storage system are satisfied;
- providing, based on the one or more prerequisites being satisfied, a token to reset the storage system;
- and
- initiating a reset of the storage system in response to a command to reset the storage system comprising the token.
