An edge computing device in a multi-tier sensor network computes per-region novelty scores by integrating anomaly detection outputs, training distribution gap metrics, and external contextual data, and transmits sensing directives that cause mobile sensor platforms to physically reposition to prioritize high-novelty regions. Sensor nodes perform local anomaly pre-screening and optional peer-to-peer corroboration before transmitting indicators to the edge device. The edge device validates detected events through determination within spatial-temporal trigger windows, applying cross-modal weighting and temporal integration. A model patching engine applies incremental parameter updates to running inference models without service interruption, with automated checkpoint and rollback restoring prior model parameters when post-patch validation detects performance degradation. Validated events and parameter deltas are selectively transmitted to a cloud server for global model retraining and redistribution.
