Abstract

The present disclosure provides a system for scanning and transporting shipping containers. The system includes a rectangular bed for container transport, a sensor to detect container presence, Mecanum wheels for omnidirectional movement, engines with dual power options, and a scanning collar with multiple sensors for comprehensive container scanning. The system features a communications interface, alarm system, perimeter cameras, and a driving station with an enclosed cab. A computing entity may control various functions of the system, including, but not limited to, system operations, scanning processes, analyze scan data, transmit alerts, activate alarms, and direct the system to predetermined locations based on risk assessment. The disclosure also includes a method for scanning and sorting containers using the described system.

Dependent claims

A system for scanning and transporting shipping containers, comprising:

a rectangular bed configured to support a shipping container positioned thereon;
a sensor integrated about the rectangular bed and configured to detect a presence of the shipping container on the rectangular bed;
a plurality of wheels configured to allow omnidirectional movement of the system;
one or more engines operably connected to the plurality of wheels;
a scanning collar configured to gather data from the shipping container on the rectangular bed, wherein the scanning collar comprises one or more sensors and is configured to traverse a length of the rectangular bed with the one or more sensors active;
a communications interface comprising a transmitter and a receiver;
an alarm;
one or more cameras configured to gather visual data of surroundings of the system;
and
a computing entity comprising a processor and a non-transitory computer-readable medium coupled to the processor, wherein the computing entity is operably connected to the sensor integrated about the rectangular bed, the alarm, the communications interface, the one or more engines, and the scanning collar, and wherein the non-transitory computer-readable medium contains instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
detecting the presence of the shipping container on the rectangular bed;
initiating a scan of the shipping container using the scanning collar;
collecting data from the scan of the shipping container;
interpreting the data from the scan to determine a risk level of the shipping container;
and
directing the system to travel to a predetermined location based on the risk level of the shipping container.
