Abstract
A method for controlling an autonomous, mobile robot which is designed to navigate independently in a robot deployment area, using sensors and a map. According to one embodiment, the method comprises detecting obstacles and calculating the position of detected obstacles based on measurement data received by the sensors, and controlling the robot to avoid a collision with a detected obstacle, the map comprising map data that represents at least one virtual blocked region which, during the control of the robot, is taken into account in the same way as an actual, detected obstacle.
Claims8
A system, comprising:
- an autonomous mobile robot that:
- autonomously navigates in an environment;
- detects a situation out of which the robot cannot liberate itself autonomously;
- and
- sets a status of the robot in dependency on the detection;
- an external device that calls up the status of the robot by sending a query to the robot via a communication connection;
- and
- wherein the robot emits an optical and/or acoustic signal for a specifiable period of time if the robot shows a status indicating a situation out of which it cannot liberate itself autonomously when the query is received from the external device.
A system comprising:
- an autonomous mobile robot that autonomously navigates in an area of robot deployment using map data;
- a projector that projects information onto a floor surface or an object in the area of robot deployment;
- and
- wherein the system extracts position-based information, together with the corresponding position, out of the map data and to project this position-based information onto the corresponding position on the floor surface or onto an object located there using the projector.
