Image forming apparatus

A fixing device comprising:

• a fixing member heating a toner on a medium while rotating around its axis;
• a pressuring member, that forms a pressuring area between the fixing member and the pressuring member, pressuring the toner on the medium passing through the pressuring area while rotating around its axis;
• a fixing support member supporting rotatably the fixing member and the pressuring member;
• a fixing side joint member being supported rotatably and slidably in an axial direction on the fixing support member, being connected to a drive source via a main body side joint member, and transmitting rotational force to either the fixing member or the pressuring member;
• and
• a lever member being supported rotatably on the fixing side joint member and slidable in the axial direction integrally with the fixing side joint member,
• wherein the fixing support member has an inclined surface portion that is inclined outward in the axial direction from one side of other side in a rotation direction,
• when the lever member rotates from the one side to the other side in the rotation direction while contacting the inclined surface portion, the fixing side joint member is slidden from an inner side to an outer side in the axial direction and is positioned at a connected position where it is connected to the main body side joint member,
• when the lever member rotates from the other side of the one side in the rotation direction while contacting the inclined surface portion, the fixing side joint member is slidden from the outer side to the inner side in the axial direction and is positioned at a separated position where it is separated to the main body side joint member.
