Image forming apparatus and image forming method

An image forming apparatus comprising:

• fixing means for fixing toner on a recording medium to form a toner image;
• and
• control means for:
• receiving and analyzing print data in a monochrome mode to generate image data, the print data including a drawing command;
• calculating an image area rate per page of the recording medium based on the print data in the monochrome mode;
• determining that the image area rate is not greater than a predetermined value;
• determining a preset fixing temperature of the fixing means according to the image area rate;
• and
• controlling the fixing means to fix the toner on the recording medium according to the image data.

An image forming method comprising:

• reading and analyzing print data;
• calculating an image area rate per page of a recording medium based on the print data;
• determining that the image area rate is not greater than a predetermined value;
• determining a preset fixing temperature at which a toner image is fixed on the recording medium according to the image area rate;
• and
• starting printing at the preset fixing temperature.
