Optical module and projector

An optical module comprising:

• a first light source module having a first light source that emits a first light;
• a support member that supports the first light source module;
• a positioning portion that positions the first light source module with respect to the support member;
• and
• a first light modulation unit that modulates the first light incident from the first light source module, wherein
• the first light source module has
• a first light source including a first light emitting element that emits the first light, and a first substrate on which the first light emitting element is mounted, and
• a holding member fixed to the first substrate,
• the holding member has an attachment portion that extends along a surface direction of the first substrate and attaches the first light source module to the support member,
• the attachment portion has an attachment surface in contact with the support member,
• the support member has a position adjustment surface in contact with the attachment surface for adjusting a relative position between the first light source module and the support member,
• the positioning portion includes a first opposing portion provided on the attachment surface and a second opposing portion provided at a position corresponding to the first opposing portion on the position adjustment surface, and
• when the relative position between the first light source module and the support member is determined, the first opposing portion and the second opposing portion at least partially overlap each other when viewed in a direction along an optical axis direction of the first light.
