An electronic control unit (ECU) includes a housing, a circuit board disposed in the housing, and a power terminal conductively coupled with the circuit board and accessible from an exterior of the housing. A power cable is operatively coupled with the power terminal and one of a power supply and a load. The power cable includes a terminal connector crimped about a jacketed conductor and conductively coupled with the power terminal. A first temperature sensor is configured to sense a first temperature. A second temperature sensor configured to sense a second temperature. A diagnostic circuit is configured to indicate presence or absence of a fault of the power cable in response to the first temperature and the second temperature. A controller is configured to change operation of the ECU in response to output of the second comparator.
