Surface acoustic wave facilitated fluidic assay systems and methods

A method of facilitating an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), comprising:

• providing a transducer assembly that comprises at least one transducer deposited on a piezoelectric substrate;
• positioning a well plate containing at least one well with a fluid sample on the piezoelectric substrate, the fluid sample relating to an ELISA protocol;
• applying an alternating electric field to the transducer assembly to induce surface acoustic waves in the piezoelectric substrate;
• and
• allowing the surface acoustic waves to propagate into the fluid sample to facilitate performance of the ELISA protocol.

An adapter for facilitating a fluidic assay, comprising:

• a piezoelectric substrate configured to be acoustically coupled to a reaction vessel;
• a transducer assembly comprising at least one transducer that is deposited on the piezoelectric substrate;
• and
• a signal interface configured to connect the transducer assembly to a power source, wherein the adapter is configured to generate surface acoustic waves that propagate into a fluid sample in the reaction vessel to enhance reaction kinetics of the fluidic assay.
