Abstract
Embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to methods of enriching one or more molecules in a medium by applying a spatially non-uniform alternating current electric field (AC electric field) to the medium, where the AC electric field enriches the molecules in the medium through initiating electromigration of the molecules. The methods may also include steps of sensing and/or purifying the molecules. Additional embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to systems for enriching one or more molecules, where the system includes a housing unit operational to house a medium that includes the molecules to be enriched, and an electrode operational to be electrically connected to the medium and apply an AC electric field to the medium.
Claims23
A method of enriching one or more molecules in a medium, said method comprising:
- applying a spatially non-uniform alternating current electric field (AC electric field) to the medium, wherein the AC electric field enriches the molecules in the medium through initiating electromigration of the molecules.
A system for enriching one or more molecules, said system comprising:
- a housing unit, wherein the housing unit is operational to house a medium comprising the molecules;
- and
- an electrode, wherein the electrode is operational to be electrically connected to the medium and apply a spatially non-uniform alternating current electric field (AC electric field) to the medium.
