Abstract
A gas tube is provided for engagement with an AR-15 style rifle. The gas tube is configured for sealed coupling with an interior passage of the gun barrel of the rifle style rifle at one end and with the a bolt carrier of said AR-15 rifle at an opposite end in the same fashion as an existing gas tube. One or a plurality of spiral portions of the gas tube provide for a means to lengthen the axial passage to change the time duration taken for gas to reach the bolt carrier.
Claims12
A gas tube apparatus for an AR-15 style rifle, comprising:
- a gas tube having a first end opposite a second end;
- an axial passage running through said gas tube;
- said gas tube engageable to a mounted position wherein said first end coupled to an interior passage of the gun barrel of an AR-15 style rifle and said second end coupled with a chamber connected to the a bolt carrier of said AR-15 rifle;
- and
- said gas tube having at least one spiral section thereof positioned between said first end thereof and said second end thereof, whereby gas exiting from said interior passage of said gun barrel is communicated through said axial passage to said bolt carrier to power operation thereof.
