Abstract

A cryocooler includes a first displacer and a second displacer that extend in series in an axial direction, a cryocooler cylinder that accommodates the first displacer and the second displacer, and a connector that connects the first displacer and the second displacer in the axial direction. A first expansion chamber and a radial clearance connected to the first expansion chamber are formed between the cryocooler cylinder and the first displacer. The first displacer includes an outlet flow path connected to the first expansion chamber via the radial clearance and a bypass flow path that bypasses at least part of the radial clearance and is connected to the first expansion chamber. The connector is configured to open the bypass flow path during an intake process to the first expansion chamber and close the bypass flow path during an exhaust process from the first expansion chamber.
