Abstract
A connecting rod for a vehicle is disclosed. The connecting rod comprises a small end, a big end, and a shank extending from the small end to the big end. The big end comprises a base part located adjacent to the shank, and a cap part connectable to the base part. In an assembled state, the base part and the cap part together define an inner circular surface, which defines a central opening which is configured to receive and house two bearing shells for contacting the inner circular surface. The base part is provided with a first groove and the cap part is provided with a second groove, wherein in the assembled state, the first groove and the second groove together form a through hole extending from an external surface of the big end to the inner circular surface.
Claims17
A connecting rod for a vehicle, the connecting rod comprising:
- a small end configured to be operatively connected to a piston of a vehicle;
- a big end configured to be operatively connected to a crankshaft of the vehicle;
- a shank extending from the small end to the big end;
- and
- at least one fastener,
- wherein the big end comprises:
- a base part located adjacent to the shank, and
- a cap part,
- wherein the cap part is connectable to the base part, by the at least one fastener, into an assembled state of the big end, and is disconnectable from the base part into a disassembled state of the big end,
- wherein, in the assembled state of the big end, the base part and the cap part together define an inner circular surface of the big end, the inner circular surface defining a central opening which is configured to receive and house two bearing shells for contacting the inner circular surface, and
- wherein the base part is provided with a first groove and the cap part is provided with a second groove, wherein in the assembled state, the first groove and the second groove together form a through hole extending from an external surface of the big end to the inner circular surface.
