Abstract
An apparatus can include a central member between a first fluid section and a second fluid section, wherein the central member, first fluid section, and second fluid section define a longitudinal axis thereon, at least one first fluid section driving member in mechanical communication with the central member, at least one second fluid section driving member in mechanical communication with the central member, an oscillating member in mechanical communication with the central member configured to oscillate the central member along the longitudinal axis, a pump inlet in fluid communication with a fluid source, and a pump outlet.
Claims20
An apparatus comprising:
- a central member between a first fluid section and a second fluid section, wherein the central member, first fluid section, and second fluid section define a longitudinal axis thereon;
- an oscillating member in mechanical communication with the central member configured to oscillate the central member along the longitudinal axis;
- a first fluid section inlet valve, a first fluid section outlet valve, a second fluid section inlet valve, and a second fluid section outlet valve, each independently and actively controllable;
- and a control unit configured to selectively open and close the first and second fluid section inlet and outlet valves to balance pressure between the first fluid section and the second fluid section to provide continuous fluid flow at a pump outlet of the apparatus during transition between first and second fluid section operating modes.
A method comprising:
- oscillating, using an oscillating member, a central member between a first fluid section and a second fluid section along a longitudinal axis, the first fluid section comprising a first fluid section inlet valve and a first fluid section outlet valve, and the second fluid section comprising a second fluid section inlet valve and a second fluid section outlet valve, each independently and actively controllable;
- and selectively opening and closing, using a control unit, the first and second fluid section inlet and outlet valves to balance pressure between the first fluid section and the second fluid section to provide continuous fluid flow at a pump outlet during transition between first and second fluid section operating modes.
