Abstract
Innovative prechamber are incorporated into a spark ignited opposed piston engine system. Such a system provides performance advantages over long reach spark plug ignition systems.

A spark ignition system for an engine comprising:
- a prechamber comprising a volume of 0.2 cc to 5.0 cc;
- at least one spark plug within the prechamber;
- a main combustion chamber;
- and
- holes or channels connecting the prechamber to the main combustion chamber.

- configuring the engine with a prechamber comprising a volume of 0.2 cc to 5.0 cc;
- configuring at least one spark plug within the prechamber;
