Abstract
Systems and methods presented herein generally relate to introducing degradable fibers into a clean fluid having no proppants contained therein to produce a fiber-containing fluid, and injecting the fiber-containing fluid into a wellbore extending through a subterranean formation during a pad stage of a hydraulic fracturing operation. In general, the systems and methods presented herein block fluid leak-off flow through walls of fractures created during hydraulic fracturing operations. Advantages include the ability to definitively minimize fluid damage to the reservoir because less fluid is used and there is less water consumption.

A method, comprising:
- detecting, using one or more sensors, one or more operating parameters of a wellbore extending through a subterranean formation;
- adjusting, using a fiber feeder, a composition of a fiber-containing fluid based at least in part on the one or more operating parameters of the wellbore in substantially real-time, wherein the fiber-containing fluid lacks any proppants;
- and
- injecting the fiber-containing fluid into the wellbore during a pad stage of a hydraulic fracturing operation.
A method, comprising:
- detecting, using one or more sensors, one or more operating parameters of a wellbore extending through a subterranean formation in substantially real-time during a hydraulic fracturing operation;
- adjusting, using a fiber feeder, a composition of a fiber-containing fluid to be injected during a pad stage of the hydraulic fracturing operation based at least in part on the one or more operating parameters of the wellbore in substantially real-time during the hydraulic fracturing operation, wherein the fiber-containing fluid comprises polylactic acid (PLA) fibers and lacks any proppants;
- and
- injecting the fiber-containing fluid into the wellbore during the pad stage of a hydraulic fracturing operation.
A method, comprising:
- obtaining one or more operating parameters of a wellbore extending through a subterranean formation during a hydraulic fracturing operation;
- adjusting, using a fiber feeder, a composition of a fiber-containing fluid to be injected during a pad stage of the hydraulic fracturing operation based at least in part on the one or more operating parameters of the wellbore in substantially real-time during the hydraulic fracturing operation, wherein the fiber-containing fluid lacks any proppants;
- and
- injecting the fiber-containing fluid into the wellbore during the pad stage of a hydraulic fracturing operation.
