Abstract
A synthetic turf system includes a poured-in-place (PIP) rubber subsurface and a synthetic turf positioned on the PIP rubber subsurface. The synthetic turf includes a backing layer and a plurality of synthetic turf strands coupled to the backing layer. In some embodiments, an edge portion of the synthetic turf extends around an edge of the PIP rubber subsurface and into a receiving region defined between the PIP rubber subsurface and an adjacent hard surface. The edge portion is retained within the receiving region by one or more retention mechanisms, including adhesive and mechanical capture mechanisms. In some embodiments, the receiving region comprises a gap and the edge portion is secured within the gap by adhesive.
Claims20
A synthetic turf system, comprising:
- (a) a synthetic turf comprising a backing layer and a plurality of synthetic turf strands coupled to the backing layer;
- and
- (b) a poured-in-place (PIP) rubber subsurface disposed beneath the backing layer;
- wherein the backing layer is disposed on a top surface of the PIP rubber subsurface.
A synthetic turf system, comprising:
- (a) a poured-in-place (PIP) rubber subsurface;(b) a synthetic turf disposed on the PIP rubber subsurface, the synthetic turf comprising a backing layer and a plurality of synthetic turf strands coupled to the backing layer;
- and(c) a hard surface positioned adjacent to the PIP rubber subsurface so as to define a receiving region between the hard surface and the PIP rubber subsurface;wherein an edge portion of the synthetic turf extends around an edge of the PIP rubber subsurface and into the receiving region;
- andwherein the edge portion is retained within the receiving region.
A method of installing a synthetic turf system adjacent to a hard surface, comprising:
- (a) providing a poured-in-place (PIP) rubber subsurface;
- (b) positioning the PIP rubber subsurface adjacent to the hard surface so as to define a receiving region between the PIP rubber subsurface and the hard surface;
- (c) positioning a synthetic turf on top of the PIP rubber subsurface, the synthetic turf comprising a backing layer and a plurality of synthetic turf strands coupled to the backing layer;
- (d) extending an edge portion of the synthetic turf around an edge of the PIP rubber subsurface and into the receiving region;
- and
- (e) retaining the edge portion within the receiving region.
