Laundry treating apparatus

A method for controlling a laundry treating apparatus including:

• a drum rotatably disposed inside a tub;
• a coil configured to generate a magnetic field inducing an eddy current in the drum;
• a first controller configured to control rotation of the drum;
• a second controller configured to control operation of the coil;
• a first communication circuit communicatively connecting the first controller with the second controller;
• a relay communicatively connected to the first controller through a second communication circuit and configured to supply power to the second controller in response to an instruction of the first controller;
• an interrupter configured to open the second communication circuit when a temperature of the tub or a temperature of the coil is equal to or higher than a preset reference temperature, and close the second communication circuit when the temperature of the tub or the temperature of the coil is lower than the reference temperature;
• and a temperature sensor configured to measure the temperature inside the tub and transmit the measured temperature to the first controller, the method comprising:
• a drying step of rotating the drum at a first number of rotations and heating the drum through the coil;
• a rotation step of rotating the drum at a second number of rotations when a communication failure between the first controller and the second controller occurs through the first communication circuit during the drying step;
• and
• a measuring step of measuring the temperature inside the tub for a preset measurement duration during the rotation step,
• wherein whether the second communication circuit is opened by a failure of the first communication circuit and by the interrupter is determinable based on whether the temperature inside the tub has increased during the rotation step.
