An external lint filtering device, a washing system, and a control method. The lint filtering device includes: a filter module for receiving water to be filtered for filtering; the lint filtering device has a water inlet in communication with the filter module for connecting to an external pipe; and a detection module for detecting whether the water inlet is connected to the external pipe. The external lint filtering device can be directly connected to a washing equipment to achieve a filtering function while not occupying the internal space of the washing equipment. By providing the detection module, the problem of the lint filtering device leaking at the water inlet when the water inlet is not connected to the external pipe, thereby failing to perform an effective filtering function, can be avoided.
