Abstract
A laundry appliance includes a tub positioned within a cabinet and a door pivotably mounted to the cabinet. The laundry appliance also includes an aperture defined through the cabinet. The aperture is open to an ambient environment external to the cabinet when the door is in a closed position. A vent assembly is fluidly coupled between the aperture and the tub. The vent assembly includes a vent housing defining a vent inlet, an attenuation chamber, and a vent outlet. A fin extends within the attenuation chamber. The fin defines a port through the fin, where air flowing through the vent assembly passes through the port of the fin.
Claims20
A laundry appliance, comprising:
- a wash tub positioned within a cabinet and defining a wash chamber;
- a door pivotably mounted to the cabinet whereby the door is pivotable between an open position and a closed position;
- a wash basket rotatably mounted within the wash tub and being configured for receiving of a load of articles for washing;
- a drive motor operably coupled to the wash basket for selectively rotating the wash basket;
- an aperture defined through the cabinet, the aperture open to an ambient environment external to the cabinet when the door of the laundry appliance is in the closed position;
- and
- a vent assembly fluidly coupled between the aperture and the wash tub, the vent assembly comprising:
- a vent housing defining a vent inlet and a vent outlet, the vent housing comprising a divider wall comprising an opening, the divider wall defining a first attenuation chamber and a second attenuation chamber, the first attenuation chamber defined between the vent inlet and the opening, the second attenuation chamber defined between the opening and the vent outlet;
- a plurality of fins extending within the first attenuation chamber of the vent housing, wherein each fin of the plurality of fins comprises a respective port, wherein along a length of the first attenuation chamber, each respective port of the plurality of fins alternates between a first position and a second position;
- a plurality of deflector walls extending within the second attenuation chamber, wherein along a length of the second attenuation chamber each deflector wall of the plurality of deflector walls alternates between extending from the divider wall and extending from an outlet plate,
- whereby the vent assembly reduces condensation forming outside of the laundry appliance.
A laundry appliance, comprising:
- a tub positioned within a cabinet and defining a chamber;
- a door pivotably mounted to the cabinet whereby the door is pivotable between an open position and a closed position;
- an aperture defined through the cabinet, the aperture open to an ambient environment external to the cabinet when the door of the laundry appliance is in the closed position;
- and
- a vent assembly fluidly coupled between the aperture and the tub, the vent assembly comprising:
- a vent housing defining a vent inlet, an attenuation chamber, and a vent outlet;
- a fin extending within the attenuation chamber, the fin defining a port through the fin, wherein air flowing through the vent assembly passes through the port of the fin.
