Abstract

A method of operating a group of appliances includes connecting the appliances that are connected to a first wireless network to a remote computing device. Additionally, the method includes receiving a request from a primary household appliance of the appliances to generate a second wireless network different from the first wireless network. Furthermore, the method includes generating an identifier for the second wireless network upon receipt of the request. Moreover, the method includes connecting the appliances to the second wireless network. Additionally, the method includes capturing data of channel characteristics of a plurality of wireless channels of the second wireless network. The captured data is indicative of an object position relative to the appliances. Furthermore, the method includes determining the object position relative to the appliances based on the captured data. Moreover, the method includes operating one or more of the appliances based on determining the object position.

Dependent claims

A method of operating a group of household appliances, the method comprising:

connecting the group of household appliances that are connected to a first wireless network to a remote computing device;
receiving a request from a primary household appliance of the group of household appliances to generate a second wireless network different from the first wireless network;
generating an identifier for the second wireless network upon receipt of the request from the primary household appliance;
connecting the group of household appliances to the second wireless network;
capturing data of channel characteristics of a plurality of wireless channels of the second wireless network, the captured data indicative of an object position relative to the group of household appliances;
determining the object position relative to the group of household appliances based on the captured data;
and
operating one or more household appliances of the group of household appliances based on determining the object position.

a group of household appliances connected to a first wireless network;
a sensing device configured to capture data of channel characteristics of a plurality of wireless channels of a wireless network;
and
a controller operatively coupled to the group of household appliances and to the sensing device, the controller configured to:
receive a request from a primary household appliance of the group of household appliances to generate a second wireless network different from the first wireless network;
generate an identifier for the second wireless network upon receipt of the request from the primary household appliance;
connect the group of household appliances to the second wireless network;
receive sensing device data of channel characteristics of a plurality of wireless channels of the second wireless network, the received data indicative of an object position relative to the group of household appliances;
determine the object position relative to the group of household appliances based on the received data;
and
operate one or more household appliances of the group of household appliances based on determining the object position.
