Abstract
The present disclosure provides a mild, self-preserving liquid detergent composition that comprises a combination of materials such as solvents, salts, pH, and surfactants in varying ratios to overcome potential bacteria or fungal growth in the detergent product while maintaining a good cleaning performance. The detergent composition of the present disclosure does not comprise a preservative, has a pH of less than 5, and has a Zein score of not more than about 2% dissolved zein when tested on a 10% dilution.

A liquid detergent composition comprising
- i. water;
- ii. about 15 to about 25 wt % of surfactant;
- iii. about 0.1 to about 1.25 wt % of a fatty acid;
- iv. about 0.5 to about 2 wt % of a polymer and chelant;
- and
- v. optionally about 2 to about 12 wt % of at least one ingredient selected from the group consisting of ethanol and NaCl,
- wherein the surfactant consists essentially of a single anionic surfactant and a single non-ionic surfactant,
- wherein the detergent composition does not comprise a preservative,
- wherein the detergent composition has a pH of less than 5, and
- wherein the detergent composition has a Zein score of not more than about 2% dissolved zein when tested on a 10% dilution.
