Abstract
A print material includes a vinylic molecule, a vinylic cross-linker molecule having a plurality of vinyl groups, a quantum dot, a light-scattering particle having a surface composition, and a dispersant having a chemical affinity matched to the surface composition. Methods of making and using such print materials are also described.
Claims20
A print material, comprising:
- a vinylic matrix material;
- a vinylic cross-linker molecule having a plurality of vinyl groups;
- a quantum dot;
- a light-scattering particle having a pH above 7;
- and
- less than about 3 wt % of a polymer dispersant having acidic pendant groups, wherein the polymer dispersant is selected from the group consisting of a polyether, a polyester, a polyol, a polyacrylate, a poly alpha olefin, a polystyrene, a polyvinyl resin, a diolefin polymer, a polyphosphonate, a polycarbonate, a silicon, and a combination thereof, the print material having a dynamic viscosity of about 4-40 cP at room temperature.

A method of making a material layer, comprising:
- applying a mixture to a substrate, the mixture comprising:
- a vinylic matrix material having oligomers, polymers, or both;
- a vinylic cross-linking agent having a plurality of vinyl groups;
- a quantum dot;
- a light-scattering particle having a pH above 7;
- and
- less than about 3 wt % of a polymer dispersant having acidic pendant groups, wherein the polymer dispersant is selected from the group consisting of a polyether, a polyester, a polyol, a polyacrylate, a poly alpha olefin, a polystyrene, a polyvinyl resin, a diolefin polymer, a polyphosphonate, a polycarbonate, a silicon, and a combination thereof;
- and
- polymerizing the mixture to form a material layer on the substrate.

A print material, comprising:
- a vinylic matrix material;
- a vinylic cross-linker molecule having a plurality of vinyl groups;
- a quantum dot;
- a light-scattering particle having a shelling material that gives the light scattering particle a pH above 7;
- and
- less than about 3 wt % of a polymer dispersant having acidic pendant groups, wherein the polymer dispersant is selected from the group consisting of a polyether, a polyester, a polyol, a polyacrylate, a poly alpha olefin, a polystyrene, a polyvinyl resin, a diolefin polymer, a polyphosphonate, a polycarbonate, a silicon, and a combination thereof, the print material having a dynamic viscosity of about 4-40 cP at room temperature.
