Abstract
A reduction method includes reducing a substrate (A) by mechanochemical treatment using at least a metal (B) and a proton source (C), wherein the substrate (A) is at least one compound including an unsaturated bond, and the metal (B) includes at least one selected from an alkali metal or an alkaline-earth metal. The method can provide a reaction product similar to a reaction product obtained by Birch reduction.

A reduction method comprising reducing a substrate (A) by mechanochemical treatment using at least a metal (B) and a proton source (C),
- wherein the substrate (A) is at least one compound including an unsaturated bond, and
- the metal (B) includes at least one selected from an alkali metal or an alkaline-earth metal.
