Abstract
Disclosed herein are compositions and methods for chemically degrading per- and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS), particularly aqueous PFAS, using ozone and metal oxides. The metal oxides may optionally be encapsulated in a zeolite and/or present in a membrane doped with said metal oxides. These compositions and methods can be used for remediation of PFAS in, for example, naturally occurring bodies of water or municipal water supplies.
Claims20
A method for chemically degrading per- and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS), comprising contacting a metal oxide encapsulated in a zeolite with an aqueous PFAS and ozone.
A method for chemically degrading PFAS, comprising contacting a membrane with PFAS and ozone, wherein the membrane is doped with a metal oxide.
A composition for chemical degradation of PFAS, comprising a membrane doped with a metal oxide encapsulated in a zeolite.
