Abstract
A pouch made of plant-based materials includes a body defining a left side, a right side, a bottom side, and a mouth at an upper end thereof that provides access into a cavity of the pouch, and a sealing structure that is configured to allow access into the cavity of the pouch in an open configuration and to prevent access into the cavity of the pouch in a closed configuration. The sealing structure includes at least 85% repulpable, plant-based material, and a remaining percentage of the sealing structure consists of a water-insoluble polymer.

A pouch made of plant-based materials, comprising:
- a body defining a left side, a right side, a bottom side, and a mouth at an upper end thereof that provides access into a cavity of the pouch;
- and
- a sealing structure that is configured to allow access into the cavity of the pouch in an open configuration and to prevent access into the cavity of the pouch in a closed configuration,
- wherein the sealing structure consists of at least 85% of at least one repulpable, plant-based material, and
- wherein a remaining percentage of the sealing structure consists of a water-insoluble polymer.
A pouch made of plant-based materials, comprising:
- a body defining a left side, a right side, a bottom side, and a mouth at an upper end thereof that provides access into a cavity of the pouch;
- and
- a sealing structure that is configured to allow access into the cavity of the pouch in an open configuration and to prevent access into the cavity of the pouch in a closed configuration,
- wherein the body of the pouch consists of at least 85% of at least one repulpable, plant-based material, and
- wherein a remaining percentage of the body consists of a water-insoluble polymer.
A method for making a sealing structure for a pouch, comprising:
- blending up to 15% of one or more water-insoluble polymers combined with at least 85% of one or more repulpable, plant-based materials.
