Steering apparatus

A steering apparatus comprising:

• an inner pipe that accommodates and rotatably supports a steering shaft;
• and
• an outer column including a pair of clamp portions that hold the inner pipe so as to be movable and fixable in a vehicle front-rear direction,
• wherein the outer column includes a holding cylinder that holds the inner pipe, an upper extension portion extending from an upper portion of the holding cylinder toward a front of a vehicle body, a lower extension portion extending from a lower portion of the holding cylinder toward the front of the vehicle body, and a support portion formed integrally with a front end of the upper extension portion and a front end of the lower extension portion and supporting the steering shaft,
• the support portion is coupled to a vehicle body support bracket via pivots so as to be swingable up and down, and
• a space between the upper extension portion and the lower extension portion penetrates entirely from the holding cylinder to the support portion in a vehicle width direction.
