Abstract

A steering column device capable of avoiding interference between an operation lever and an instrument panel during storage of a steering wheel. The steering column is movable forward and backward between a protruding position and a storage position relative to the instrument panel. A lever unit provided on the steering column includes an operation lever, and changes its posture relative to the steering column between a use posture and a non-use posture. The distance of a distal end position of the operation lever from the rotation center of the steering wheel is shorter when the lever unit is in the non-use posture than when the lever unit is in the use posture. When the steering column moves from the protruding position to the storage position, the lever unit changes from the use posture to the non-use posture to avoid interference between the operation lever and the instrument panel.
