A package handling system for automated last-mile delivery with a delivery truck having a rear cargo area, a storage bin positioned within the cargo area containing a plurality of sequenced delivery packages, and a robotic arm mounted inside the cargo area. The robotic arm is configured to pick a delivery package from the storage bin and transfer it directly to an autonomous ground rover positioned adjacent the truck, to a hinged drone platform pivotally mounted on the truck's rear tailgate, or to a hovering drone via a contactless end-effector handoff. The system eliminates the need for a drone to enter the enclosed truck interior and enables rapid, fully automated handover of pre-sequenced packages from the truck to either a rover or drone for final delivery to a customer doorstep or designated location, thus, significantly reducing labor, delivery time, and cost in e-commerce fulfillment operations.
