Abstract
Devices, systems, and methods used to assemble a structural member, such as a floor truss, are disclosed. The systems include a structural member assembly table including a worktable and a drop-down platform pivotably coupled to the worktable. The drop-down platform includes an end datum and a drop-down mechanism. The drop-down mechanism is configured to transition from an operational position to an eject position to reposition the end datum to eject the assembled structural member.
Claims20
An assembly table, comprising:
- a work surface;
- a pivotable platform at an end of the work surface;
- an end datum on the pivotable platform;
- and
- a drop-down mechanism to pivot the pivotable platform from an operational position to an eject position with the end datum repositioned to provide an ejection path for a structural member assembled on the work surface.
A truss assembly system, comprising:
- a work surface;
- a pivotable platform at an end of the work surface;
- an end datum on the pivotable platform;
- and
- a drop-down mechanism to pivot the pivotable platform from an operational position to an eject position with the end datum repositioned to provide an ejection path for a truss assembled on the work surface.
A method of assembling a structural member with an assembly table, comprising:
- positioning components of the structural member on a work surface of the assembly table, wherein the assembly table comprises:
- a pivotable platform at an end of the work surface;
- an end datum on the pivotable platform;
- and
- a drop-down mechanism to pivot the pivotable platform from an operational position to an eject position with the end datum repositioned to provide an ejection path for a structural member assembled on the work surface;
- applying, via the end datum, a longitudinal compressive force to the structural member;
- assembling, with nailers, the structural member while the longitudinal compressive force is applied;
- releasing, via the end datum, the longitudinal compressive force from the structural member;
- pivoting the pivotable platform from an operational position to an eject position with the end datum repositioned to provide an ejection path for the structural member;
- and
- ejecting the structural member.
