Abstract
Embodiments can relate to an adsorbent including a substrate and a coating formed on a surface of the substrate. The coating can include a bifunctional hairy cellulose nanocrystal (BHCNC) having a dialdehyde group and a dicarboxylate group. Additional embodiments can relate to methods of making and using the same.
Claims29
An adsorbent, comprising:
- a substrate;
- and
- a coating formed on a surface of the substrate, the coating comprising:
- multifunctional polymers and/or particles, bearing anionic, cationic, zwitterionic, and/or neutrally charged functional groups.
1 more element
A method of generating an adsorbent, the method comprising:
- forming a coating on a surface of a substrate, the coating comprising multifunctional polymers and/or particles, bearing anionic, cationic, zwitterionic, and/or neutrally charged functional groups.
A method of recovering an element from a solution, the method comprising:
- exposing an adsorbent to a solution containing an element, the adsorbent comprising:
- a substrate;
- and
- a coating formed on a surface of the substrate, the coating comprising:
- multifunctional polymers and/or particles, bearing anionic, cationic, zwitterionic, and/or neutrally charged functional groups;
- and
- allowing the element to adsorb to the adsorbent.
4 more elements
A method of generating an adsorbent, the method comprising:
