Abstract
A devolatilization apparatus for devolatilizing a composition includes a volatile component, such as for devolatilizing a solid or liquid polymer composition including unreacted monomer, solvent and/or by-product. The devolatilization apparatus includes an inlet for the composition to be devolatilized and a vessel including at least two distributors being spaced apart on top of each other, at least one outlet for devolatilized composition and at least one outlet for gas. Each of the at least two distributors includes at least one static mixer.
Claims20
A devolatilization apparatus for devolatilizing a composition comprising a volatile component, the devolatilization comprising:
- an inlet for the composition to be devolatilized;
- and
- a vessel comprising at least two distributors being arranged spaced apart on top of each other, at least one outlet for a devolatilized composition and at least one outlet for gas, each of the at least two distributors comprising at least one static mixer, and one of the at least two distributors arranged above an other of the at least two distributors, and having a higher pressure drop than the other of the at least two distributors, a devolatilization section arranged between a top the one of the at least two distributors and a top of the other of the at least two distributors or between a top of the other of the at least two distributors and a bottom of the vessel, and including at least one distributor of the at least two distributors and at least one perforated tray.
