Abstract
A curling stone propelling device for use by a person with limited arm strength and mobility where a deceleration of a wheelchair is a triggering event that propels a curling stone with an adjustable and measurable force where the propulsion of the stone is provided by tension bands that when under pressure can cause the stone to be propelled with a known force.
Claims1
A device for enabling a person with limited arm strength and mobility to participate in the sport of curling, comprising:
- A wheelchair interface having a first part configured for coupling to wheelchair, and a second part configured for coupling with a curling stone propelling device;
- and a quick connection for selectively coupling saif first part and said second part,
- A curling stone propelling device coupled to said second part, said curling stone propelling device having a plurality of tension bands;
- A device for placing the plurality of tension bands under pressure;
- and
- A trigger, which is activated by a deceleration characteristic of a wheelchair, where activation of said trigger results in propelling said curling stone with a predetermined force provided by said plurality of tension bands.
