Abstract
A device and method are provided for upright orbital radiotherapy. The device comprises a patient positioning system (PPS) for orienting a patient with respect to an irradiation device, the PPS arranged to be movable in at least one and up to two degrees of freedom (DOF), wherein at least one DOF is rotation around a vertical axis of the PPS. Further, an irradiation device is provided for emitting beams in a direction towards the PPS, the irradiation device being movable in at least 2 DOF and up to 5 DOF.
Claims27
A device for upright orbital radiotherapy, comprising:
- an irradiation device;
- a patient positioning system (PPS) for orienting a patient with respect to said irradiation device, said PPS arranged to be movable in at least one and up to two degrees of freedom (DOF), wherein at least one said DOF of said PPS is rotation around a vertical axis of the PPS;
- and
- wherein said irradiation device is operable to emit irradiation beams in a direction towards the PPS, and said irradiation device is movable in at least two DOF and up to five DOF.
