Abstract
A spinal sensing and stimulating device is described. The spinal sensing and stimulating device includes an electrode array, supported by a substrate. The spinal sensing and stimulating device further includes a data processing unit configured to digitize a neural signal detected from a medullary/spinal cord implant of a patient through the electrode array.
Claims20
A method for neural sensing and stimulating control, the method comprising:
- harvesting power from one or more channels of an external sensation and stimulation device;
- sensing a state of an organ using a sensor;
- performing intraspinal stimulation using an internal external sensation and stimulation device;
- receive information from an intraspinal sensing chip;
- transmit a 1-bit sensory signals to trigger the internal external sensation and stimulation device;
- activating, by the internal external sensation and stimulation device, stimulating leads to contact and to deliver a voltage-controlled pulse to the organ.
3 more elements
A method for neural simulation and control comprising:
- detecting neural signals from a medullary or spinal cord region of a patient using a CMOS electrode array comprising a plurality of semiconductor electrodes;
- digitizing the detected neural signals into binary outputs using a data processing unit, wherein the digitizing comprises generating a first binary value in response to detecting an action potential in the neural signals and generating a second binary value in response to an absence of the action potential;
- determining a physiological state based on the binary outputs;
- and
- generating stimulation signals to deliver to the medullary or spinal cord region through one or more of the plurality of semiconductor electrodes based on the determined physiological state.
