A method for treating hydrocephalus includes accessing a first cerebrospinal fluid-filled (“CSF-filled”) intracranial subarachnoid space (“ISAS”) with a delivery catheter, advancing the delivery catheter through the first ISAS towards a second CSF-filed ISAS, penetrating a tissue layer separating the first ISAS from the second ISAS with the delivery catheter such that a distal end opening of the delivery catheter is disposed within the second ISAS, deploying a distal portion of a shunt from the delivery catheter into the second ISAS, and deploying a proximal portion of the shunt from the delivery catheter into the first ISAS, a body of the shunt extending through the tissue layer, such that CSF flows through a CSF inlet in the shunt distal portion, a shunt body lumen, and out a CSF outlet in the shunt proximal portion, thereby equalizing a CSF pressure of the second ISAS with a CSF pressure of the first ISAS.
