Abstract
A method of treating an eye disorder in a patient that may include administering a medicament to the patient with a prefilled syringe, wherein the administration of the medicament with the prefilled syringe is configured to treat the eye disorder and decrease a rate of likelihood of an ocular infection to the patient's eye.
Claims20
A method of treating an eye disorder in a patient, the method comprising:
- administering a medicament to the patient with a prefilled syringe, wherein the administration of the medicament with the prefilled syringe is configured to treat the eye disorder and decrease a rate of likelihood of an ocular infection to the patient's eye;
- wherein the prefilled syringe includes:
- a body configured to store the medicament;
- a flange coupled to the body, the flange including a slot and an opening disposed distally from the slot;
- and
- a plunger rod coupled to the flange, the plunger rod including a protrusion and an extension disposed distally from the protrusion;
- wherein the protrusion is positioned outside of the slot and the extension is received in the opening prior to administering the medicament, and the protrusion is received in the slot and the extension is positioned outside of the opening during administration of the medicament.
A method of reducing a probability of an occurrence of an ocular infection in a patient being treated for an eye disorder with a medicament, the method comprising:
- administering the medicament to the patient's eye via a prefilled syringe that includes:
- a body storing the medicament;
- a blocking component coupled to the body, the blocking component including a proximal end and a slot recessed distally from the proximal end;
- and
- a plunger rod disposed partially inside the body, the plunger rod including a protrusion that is configured to (i) restrict distal movement of the plunger rod relative to the blocking component upon abutting against the proximal end for priming the prefilled syringe, and (ii) restrict distal and rotational movement of the plunger rod relative to the blocking component upon extending into the slot for administering the medicament.
A method of reducing intraocular inflammation in a patient receiving an injection, the method comprising:
- administering the injection to the patient via a prefilled syringe including a medicament configured to treat an eye disorder, wherein the administration reduces a rate of likelihood of the patient developing an intraocular infection in response to the injection from the prefilled syringe as compared to patients receiving the injection from non-prefilled syringes;
- wherein the prefilled syringe includes:
- a body storing the medicament;
- a flange piece coupled to the body, the flange piece including a proximal end and an opening disposed distally from the proximal end;
- and
- a plunger rod disposed partially inside the body, the plunger rod including a flexible extension that is configured to (i) restrict proximal and rotational movement of the plunger rod relative to the blocking component when received within the opening prior to administering the medicament, and (ii) permit rotational movement of the plunger rod relative to the blocking component upon exiting the opening for priming the prefilled syringe prior to administering the medicament.
