Abstract
Provided herein are hydrogels nanoengineered as a 3D-printed wearable electronic skin conformable to human skin and methods for nanoengineering the hydrogels. The hydrogel may be nanoengineered to have a crosslinked pullulan-SH/polydopamine/molybdenum disulfide network (Pul-SH/PDA/MoS2). Also provided are methods for detecting and monitoring physiological changes via the wearable electronic skin and for diagnosing a disease or disorder based on the physiological changes.
Claims20
A hydrogel, comprising:
- a triple crosslinked network of:
- a fungal exopolysaccharide modified with thiol groups;
- a plurality of 2D transition metal dichalcogenides nanoassemblies having a plurality of sulfur vacancies;
- and
- a plurality of nanoparticles structured with adhesive properties incorporated into the crosslinked fungal exopolysaccharide-transition metal dichalcogenides.
A method for nanoengineering a triple crosslinked hydrogel network for 3D-printing of an electronic skin, comprising:
- modifying pullulan with thiols to form a thiolated pullulan;
- incorporating sulfur vacancies in molybdenum disulfide nanoassemblies to form a defect-rich molybdenum disulfide;
- crosslinking the thiolated pullulan with the defect-rich molybdenum disulfide to form a Pul-SH/MoS2 network;
- crosslinking polydopamine with the thiolated pullulan in the Pul-SH/MoS2 network to form a Pul-SH/PDA/MoS2 network;
- and
- crosslinking pullulan chains in the Pul-SH/PDA/MoS2 network via sodium trimetaphosphate, thereby nanoengineering the triple-crosslinked hydrogel network.
A wearable electronic skin comprising a hydrogel network of thiolated pullulan triple crosslinked via reactions with defect-rich molybdenum disulfide, polydopamine and sodium trimetaphosphate, said crosslinked hydrogel network having a structure of a Pul-SH/PDA/MoS2 network, and at least one electronic biosensor integrated therein.
