Abstract
Described herein are colon-targeted delivery systems comprising a mesoporous silica nanoparticle (MSN), loaded with at least one bioactive agent, and encapsulated with inulin. Also provided are methods using the colon-targeted delivery systems to treat a colonic disease or disorder, e.g., inflammatory bowel disease.

A composition comprising:
- a mesoporous silica nanoparticle (MSN), and
- inulin conjugated to the surface of the MSN.
