Abstract
Compositions comprising levonorgestrel and methods for use of the same are provided. The levonorgestrel compositions are preferably comprised in delivery devices, preferably, intravaginal rings. Methods for use of the levonorgestrel compositions for contraception and treatment of endometriosis are also provided.

A drug delivery device comprising:
- (a) a core comprising a polymer;
- (b) a sheath substantially or completely surrounding said core;
- said sheath comprising a polymer;
- and
- (c) Levonorgestrel dissolved or dispersed in said core and/or said sheath, wherein the total amount of Levonorgestrel present in said core and/or said sheath is between about 9 mg to about 11 mg.
A method for providing contraception in a female subject in need thereof, comprising administering levonorgestrel to said subject continuously, wherein a daily amount of levonorgestrel administered to said subject is from about 60 μg/day to about 100 μg/day, and wherein the levonorgestrel is vaginally administered.
A method for treating endometriosis, endometriosis associated pelvic pain and/or dysmenorrhea in a female subject in need thereof, comprising administering levonorgestrel to said subject continuously, wherein a daily amount of levonorgestrel administered to the subject is from about 60 μg/day to about 160 μg/day, and wherein the levonorgestrel is vaginally administered.
