An aqueous polymer emulsion for cosmetics contains resin particles. The resin particles include a structural unit derived from a monomer (A) in an amount of 65 to 99.9 mass %, and a structural unit derived from a monomer (B) in an amount of 0.1 to 10 mass %, with respect to the total amount of the structural units derived from the monomers forming the resin particles as 100 mass %, wherein the monomer (A) is an alkyl (meth)acrylate having an C3 to C8 alkyl group and the monomer (B) is at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of an unsaturated carboxylic acid and an unsaturated carboxylic anhydride; and the resin particles have a volume average particle size of 70 to 150 nm and a ratio of the volume average particle size to a cumulative average particle size (volume average particle size/cumulative average particle size) of 1.00 to 1.30.
