Absorbent article

An absorbent article, comprising:

• a liquid-impermeable underlayer for preventing penetration of a liquid;
• an absorbent unit which is disposed on said liquid-impermeable underlayer in a first direction for absorbing the liquid, and which includes a main portion and two side portions that are respectively connected to two opposite sides of said main portion in a second direction that intersects the first direction;
• and
• two folded units each of which includes a side barrier structure and a supporting structure which is connected to said side barrier structure, said side barrier structures of said folded units being respectively located on outer sides of said side portions which are distal from each other and being adapted to prevent the liquid from flowing outwardly from said absorbent unit, said supporting structure of each of said folded units being disposed between said liquid-impermeable underlayer and an adjacent one of said side portions so that said main portion is spaced apart from said liquid-impermeable underlayer by a gap.
