Abstract
A system and method for detecting and/or capturing a cassette is disclosed. The cassette capture mechanism may be used with a surgical console of a surgical system, wherein the system has a cassette receiving area having at least two alignment sensors and a plurality of capture plungers; and at least two capture hooks which may engage with a cassette, wherein at least one of the at least two alignment sensors produces a signal indicative of the presence of a cassette.
Claims22
A system for phacoemulsification surgery, comprising:
- a cassette receiving area further comprising at least two alignment sensors and a plurality of capture plungers;
- and
- at least two capture hooks which may engage with a cassette;
- wherein at least one of the at least two alignment sensors produces a signal indicative of the presence of a cassette.
A method for seating a surgical cassette in a phacoemulsification surgery console, the method comprising:
- providing a receiving area comprising a plurality of alignment sensors;
- and
- providing at least two capture hooks movably responsive to one of the plurality of alignment sensors and the plurality of capture plungers;
- wherein the plurality of alignment sensors produce signals indicative of the presence of a cassette.
