Abstract
A surgical device includes a body having a first side with a first surface that is complementary to a surface of a foreign object disposed within a patient based on preoperative imaging of the patient. The body defines at least one hole positioned relative to the body to facilitate insertion of an elongate device at a predetermined location relative to the foreign object.
Claims28
A surgical device for use in a revision surgical procedure, the surgical device comprising:
- a body having a first side and a second side disposed opposite the first side, the first side including a first surface that is complementary to a surface of a foreign object disposed within a patient, based upon a preoperative imaging of the patient, and a second surface that is complementary to at least one of a first bone or a first cartilaginous surface of the patient based upon the preoperative imaging, wherein the body defines at least one hole to facilitate insertion of an elongate device at a predetermined location relative to the foreign object.
A method for performing a surgical revision, the method comprising:
- establishing access to a joint of a patient;
- placing a surgical locator in contact with the joint such that a first surface of the surgical locator contacts at least a portion of a foreign object disposed within the patient, the first surface of the surgical locator being complementary to the portion of the foreign object based on preoperative imaging of the patient;
- inserting at least one pin through at least one hole defined by a body of the surgical locator;
- positioning a cutting guide relative to the joint by sliding the cutting guide along the at least one pin;
- and
- making at least one resection using the cutting guide.
A system for performing a surgical revision, the system comprising:
- a surgical locator including a body having a first side including a first surface that is complementary to a surface of a foreign object disposed within a patient based on preoperative imaging of the patient, the body defining at least one first hole positioned relative to the body to facilitate insertion of a first elongate device at a predetermined location relative to the foreign object;
- and
- a cutting guide defining at least one second hole sized and configured to receive the first elongate device therein for locating the cutting guide relative to the foreign object, the cutting guide further defining at least one slot configured to receive a resecting tool therein for guiding the resecting tool during a bone resection.
